GENERAL INFORMATION:

DATE: October 28th thru November 3rd, 2007

The 6th North American FIDE Invitational is offering the opportunity for players to achieve their required norms for FIDE titles such as International Master (IM) and Woman Gradmaster (WGM).

EVENT DESIGN:

The design of this event is a 9R-RR (Round Robin) where all players will play each other.  Generally a 9 round event constitutes a requirement for one norm.

TIME CONTROL:

The time control for the event is G/90 + 30/sec increment (added after the move is completed). According to FIDE rules, score keeping cannot be waived upon reaching 5 minutes due to the 30/sec increment. In the USA the rules allowed players to stop notation as soon as one of the players has 5 minutes or less.

EVENT ORGANIZER:

The organizer of this event is Sevan Muradian.

I would like to commend Sevan for taking the initiative of organizing these types of tournaments in the USA, which are much needed for our American players in order for them to meet the FIDE requirements for titles.
