Justus Williams wins the 2013 U.S. Junior Open Chess Championship!

The 2013 U.S. Junior Open, which took place in Tarry Town, New York (May 31 – June 2nd) welcomed players from all across the USA. Players, school teams and clubs went head to head in this competition.

One of the most exciting games was in Round 5 of the U21 Section.

The game was a classic between two young promising players, Joshua Colas and Justus Williams. Joshua and Justus have played against each other three times this year. The first time they played against each other was at the New York City Championship, Joshua Colas won that game. The second time they went head to head was at the New York State Championship, Joshua Colas won yet again. Finally, in their third game against each other, which took place at the 2013 U.S. Junior Open in Round 5, Justus Williams finally won a game against Joshua, placing him in a very good position to qualify for the U.S. Junior Closed.

Congratulations to all of the players!
