This distinguished fellowship supports young Black chess players who demonstrate exceptional promise, discipline, and a passion for the game. Selected fellows will receive elite training, mentorship, and resources designed to help them reach the next level of their chess careers.

The US Chess Trust, a longtime champion of chess development, will administer the fellowship to ensure its lasting impact. The Trust is a 501c3 founded in 1967 and is one of the oldest sports charities in the US. The selection committee includes GM Maurice Ashley, 4-time U.S. Champion GM Fabiano Caruana, and Candidate Master Rochelle Ballantyne.
